Ik heb net een 1965 DS19 Pallas gekocht. Een heel originele wagen in een zeer goede staat. Er is geen restauratie nodig.

Maar ik wil een klein project doen. Ik zou graag een audio systeem installeren maar ik wil niks zien. De auto staat nu met de originele Continental Edison radio in de dashboard en dat zal ik laten blijven.

Sorry, mijn Nederlands is te slecht… ik denk Engels is duidelijker…

I want to install a hidden audio system in my 1965 DS. I want to find speakers that can be hidden in the roof lining or the dashboard where they can’t be seen. And I want to install an amplifier somewhere inside the dashboard that can connect to an ipod. Then I will have clear modern audio but the car will still look 100% original.

Is there anyone who has installed a system like this in their DS? Can you recommend any systems or retailers?

Your DS looks the business!   Very nice “Sombrero”-hubcaps.

You can hide good speakers under the lining under the rear window. A radio can be hidden above the windshield or in the dashbord-case.

Ah yes, the radio isn’t installed at the moment. It is in a bag in the trunk. But I will install it.

I’m thinking of purchasing this system myself for my classic Cadillac (also still fitted with the original, working WonderBar radio).

Price is actually quite ok, I remember something like $290 (ex. shipping).

I’ve been looking for invisible stereo solutions for quite some time now and I think this is the best. In some cases you can even keep your original (mono?) speaker installed in its correct place by just replacing the original mono speaker with two small modern speakers in the original frame. For American cars these speakers can be bought ready-made for something between $30 and $70, dependent of the desired sound quality.
