I did it 30 years ago to renew the silentblocks of the lower arms.
To put it back again you have to force down the lower arms before engaging the torsion bars (with their adjustment bolts completely screwed in).
I don’t remember how much exactly, but if you put a lever on the lower arms of about 1 metre and let somebody of about 60 kg stand on it, it would do the trick. Good luck!

Ah thank you, thats what I was wondering whether it had to be levered to add the suspension travel
When knocking it off will it “twang” as it reverses the bars?
I did find a French manual but not very detailed, its mostly about the engine

According to the manual it does not ‘twang’ when releasing, which should be due to the fact that there is no load of the car on the bars, since the wheels are off. The levering to be done while reinstalling is to mimic the weight of the car on the wheels, so you’re rideheight will be as it should.

These manuals are not widely available on Ebay and that sort of sites. But on any oldtimer meeting there’s loads of them. I do understand, that if I am in Holland at the time, there is a show end of the month in Belgium where we all might be. If so, we can have a look for you.

When and where is this meeting in Belgium ????

There will be a load because of the elastic function of the silentblocs (if they are still functioning properly). You have to lever the arms downwards to counteract the elasticity of the silentblocs. I guess, if you are using the old silentblocs the effort required will be less.
To prevent a “twang”; make sure you completely screw in the adjustment bolts (rear side of the torsion bars) before removing the unit.
After completing the job, use scales to make sure the weight is evenly divided between left and right.

Ah similar to the H Van, I did that one OK as the adjusting bolts almost completely take out the wind Thank you for that
Its one of those things where once you do it its easy its just the thought of doing something not done before!!
Thank you for helping the brit Surprisedops:  Cool

I forgot: only turn the adjustment bolts with the wheels off the ground!

Yes I guessed that would be correct, I have made up a dolly with trolley wheels to attach to the jamboneaux once the unit is removed

Greeney, I’ve found a few books for you. Maybe Wendela already told you. Got to go now, but I’ll send you a message with more details later tonight or tomorrow.
