Turbo 2 or not turbo 2, that is the question.

Turbo 2 head:
Exhaust = 39mm dia.
105.5mm long

Inlet = 44mm dia.
114mm long

GTi head
Exhaust = 38.5mm dia.
105.5mm long

Inlet = 48.25mm dia.
116.5 Long

Conclusion: GTi head, will not give the correct gas flow for the turbo to
work properly. Reduced exhaust dia. Will slow turbo spool up time, enlarged
inlet will loose turbulence induced by turbo.
The rule for valve sizing is usually 25% larger inlet to exhaust. The GTi
head is pretty close at 25.325%. Whereas, for forced induction this figure
should be halved, again the turbo 2 head is pretty close at 12.821%.
Also note that the GTi inlet valve & seat is cut to 90°, whereas the turbo 2
head inlet valve & seat is cut to 120°. This is design to control and direct
the flow from the turbo. Also, the sharp angle can allow the fuel to be
dragged out of the air stream, resulting in a loss of cylinder efficiency.
The inlet valve of the GTi head is also 2.5mm longer than the turbo valve
due to the difference of cam grind meaning it will not work correctly with a
turbo camshaft.

The complete conclusion to this, is:
The turbo 2 head is perfectly up to the job and tuning needs only to be
confined to balancing and shaping all the ports. The main power gains will
come from a correctly mapped turbo for the power required. Also, greater
throttle body sizes, or individual throttle bodies for each cylinder, will
give much more significant results.

While I understand all arguments for 8v,16v & 24v heads, using bigger
overlap cams, bigger valves, higher lift etc, this is all good and true for
a normally aspirated engine.
But in the realms of forced induction, the science changes some what.
If you correctly map and size a turbo charger to a balanced head and then
change the head design (cam, valve size etc), then the turbo becomes
incorrect and a loss of performance will result.

Hope this clears things up and gives you something to think about
